Our days are so packed with things to do that we actually wake up with our head spinning in circles about what needs taking care of. There’s the first dose of anxiety and overwhelm for the day!

The best way to tackle this is getting organized and making a plan and the bonus that that comes with it is that you don’t waste time dreading it, putting it off and looking for the time to do it.

Here’s how you can get the most of your day and your week:

Plan ahead

On a Sunday night, grab a notebook and a pen and write down everything that you need to do for the week. No matter how important the task. Getting it out of your head and onto paper where you can see it makes it easier for you sort and decide what’s urgent and when to do it. Once everything is out of your mind, pick a day to do each task. Break down your weekly goals into daily tasks.

Tip: work on doing the most important tasks early in the week/day.

Set a time limit for each task:

This helps a great deal with time management too. Again, decide what is a priority and do that first. It’s best to begin with your tasks as soon as you can, like first thing in the morning. It takes a load off you once it’s done and gives you a chance to get a head start on the other tasks. You may be setting aside time to do each thing but you also don’t want to waste your own time!

Take a moment to breathe.

Just like you’re making time to do everything on your list, you also need to make time to stop, breath and gather yourself from within.

Those few minutes of pure breathe work does wonder to your energy, your focus and concentration and you are always in a better space when you’re taking care of you.

I’ve been planning and organizing my day and week for the last 3 years and it is a great way to stay ahead of things. I’ve stopped wasting time worrying about what to do and when to do it. There was always things to do and I was trying to do it all but saw little progress because something or the other got pushed aside or completely ignored because I ran out of time (and energy).

Nowadays, once everything is done and ticked off my to-do list, I have time to shop for fancy planners and notebooks (I love stationary!)

With these 3 points, it will be a breeze getting through the days of the week. You’re organized, well planned and have all your priorities in check. You will no longer wake up in a panic about what needs to be done. This leaves little room for procrastination and more room to focus.
